Text Box: The Mission of the Neighborhood Watch Groups of Syracuse is to provide every neighborhood in the City of Syracuse with the organizational skill needed to become an active Neighborhood Watch Group. Through better communication between neighbors, the Syracuse Police Department and other City Departments, issues and concerns can be addressed, ultimately improving the quality of life in each neighborhood hat has an active Watch Group. Neighborhood Watch is a neighborhood organization made up of neighbors for the purpose of eliminating crime from their neighborhood and improving the quality of life for the residents of that neighborhood. Neighborhood Watch is a means of communication between neighbors, the Syracuse Police Department and other City Departments and Officials. Neighborhood Watch is an organized effort by concerned residents to look out for each other’s safety, and to help the Syracuse Police Department protect people and their homes against crime. Neighbors know best their own specific problems, strengths, resources and needs. They know best the people that live in the neighborhoods and those that do not. Neighborhoods are made up of people who have the power to protect each other’s safety. Police cannot fight crime they do not know about. When alert citizens keep them informed, the Police are far more effective against crime, and citizens have better protection and safer neighborhoods. By being the “eyes & ears” for the Police Department, and reporting any suspicious activity to the Syracuse Police Department, members of Neighborhood Watch actually increase their own safety…..
